The 17th seed Caroline Garcia will take on the 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu in the third round of the US Open on Friday.

The Frenchwoman has had a fruitful season. She won the Bad Homburg Open title defeating Bianca Andreescu in the final. At the Poland Open, the 28-year-old bagged her second title in 2022 and followed up with another at the Cincinnati Masters.
At the US Open, the 28-year-old defeated Russian qualifier Kamilla Rakhimova in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Garcia followed it up with another resounding win against Anna Kalinskaya in the second round. The two-time major champion in doubles has reached the third round at Flushing Meadows on four previous occasions but never made it beyond.
Bianca Andreescu
The 22-year-old has struggled for consistency this season. She made it to the Bad Homburg Open final and the Italian Open quarterfinal but other than that, there’s nothing much to write home about.
The promising thing has been her performance so far in the tournament. She began on a fine note buckling Harmony Tan in the first set in the first round. After winning the match in three sets, the Canadian star breezed past Beatriz Haddad Maia in the second round.
