The World No. 7 Casper Ruud takes on World No. 34 Tommy Paul in what promises to be one of the best matches at this year’s US Open.

The Norwegian tennis pro has been in excellent form this season. He has already bagged three titles thus far. Ruud won the Argentina Open in February, defeating home favorite Diego Schwartzman in the final. He went on to win the Geneva Open and the Swiss Open in May and July respectively.

So far in the US Open tournament, the 23-year-old has defeated Kyle Edmund and Tim van Rijthoven in the first couple of rounds. While Ruud won against Edmund in straight sets, van Rijthoven managed to win the first set before being outplayed in the next three.

The American tennis pro has had a decent season. The 29th seed has won 31 matches and lost 21 in 2022. Paul has not won a title this season but has reached seven tournaments. He also made it to the semifinals at the Delray Beach Open before being ousted by Cameron Norrie.

At the 2022 US Open, he won both his matches in five sets. In the first match, he defeated Spain’s Bernabe Zapata Miralles. Paul followed it up with a five-set victory against Sebastian Korda.

Head-to-Head and Prediction

Casper Ruud and Tommy Paul have faced each other on three previous occasions. The former leads the head-to-head 2-1. Their last meeting came in the second round of the Australian Open in 2021 where Ruud won the match in four sets.

Prediction: Casper Ruud to win in five sets.
