The World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has stormed into the US Open fourth round on the back of dominant performances. She will lock horns with Germany’s Jule Niemeier on Monday.
The Polish tennis pro has been in sizzling form this year. At one point, she was on a 37-match winning streak which saw her win six titles in consecutive tournaments. That run ended with her third-round defeat against Alize Cornet.
The 2022 French Open champion began her campaign at Flushing Meadows with a comprehensive win against Jasmine Paolini. She followed it up with another dominant performance against Sloane Stephens. In the third round, she defeated Lauren Davis to set up a clash with Jule Niemeier.
The German tennis pro impressed at the grass court major as she made it to the quarterfinals. She has not won a WTA Tour title as yet but her performances at the US Open indicate the talent she possesses.
Like Swiatek, Niemeier has not dropped a set as yet. She won her first match against the 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin. In the second round, the World No. 108 defeated Yulia Putintseva. Niemeier followed it up with a solid victory against China’s Zheng Qinwen in the third round.
Iga Swiatek and Jule Niemeier have not faced each other before. Therefore, the head-to-head scoreline stands at 0-0.
Prediction: Iga Swiatek to win in straight sets.
