It’s not been a month since Marin Cilic and Carlos Alcaraz faced each other at the Cincinnati Masters. We are set for another showdown between the talented youngster and the experienced veteran in the round of 16 of the US Open.

The 19-year-old faced Sebastian Baez in the first round of this year’s US Open. Alcaraz won the first two sets and led the third by 2-0 when Baez gave a walkover following an injury. In the second and third rounds, Alcaraz defeated Federico Coria and Jenson Brooksby respectively in straight sets to progress to the fourth round.
Marin Cilic
The Croatian tennis pro has won 28 out of the 43 matches he has played in 2022. Cilic reached the semifinals at the French Open and the Queens Club Championships. Alcaraz ousted him in the round of 16 of the Cincinnati Masters.
The 33-year-old defeated Maximilian Marterer in the first round with ease. The 2014 US Open champion put in another dominating performance against Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the second round. In the third round, Cilic had to toil her at different moments during his win in four straights against Dan Evans.
