Grigor Dimitrov will take on third seed Andrey Rublev in the Round of 16 at the Vienna Open
Andrey Rublev is coming into this match after a convincing straight set 6-4, 6-1 victory against Diego Schwartzmann. Rublev has been in good form and won the Gijon Open in Spain last week. Earlier this month, he also reached the semi-finals in Astana but lost out to Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Russian is seeded third in this tournament and is one of the favorites to go all the way.
Dimitrov defeated Brazil’s Thiago Monteiro 6-3, 6-4 in the first round. Dimitrov has been pretty inconsistent so far this year and would look to end the year on a high. The Bulgarian had a relatively easier opening match against the qualifier Monteiro and ensured that he doesn’t suffer any hiccups. Dimitrov just held on to the advantage he garnered early on and wrapped up the proceedings to end a three-match losing streak. However, he will certainly face an uphill task against No.3 seed Rublev in the next round.

Dimitrov and Rublev have played each other five times previously on the ATP tour. The Russian has a slight advantage and leads 3-2 on head-to-head. Their latest meeting came at the Indian Wells earlier this year. Rublev won the match convincingly in straight sets 7-5, 6-2. It promises to be an intense match, but Rublev is clearly the favourite both in terms of rankings and current form. We are predicting a win in three sets for Andrey Rublev.
