Jannik Sinner is one of the most exciting young players in the sport at the moment – here is how his serve has progressed over the years

The better players evolve over time and bring subtle changes in their techniques to make their game more potent. Jannik Sinner has modified his serve over the years and a video on Reddit confirms the same.

A YouTube channel named 12KGP provided the footage where Sinner’s different service techniques from the 2021 Indian Wells Masters and the 2022 US Open are clearly visible. During the Indian Wells, Sinner used to stay upright a lot more than now and had a narrower base as well.

In the video from the 2021 Indian Wells Masters, Sinner is seen tossing the ball with the racquet’s position wide away from his body. However, he has changed it drastically, and currently, he keeps the racquet behind his right leg. His current serve looks really close to Pete Sampras’ famous serving technique. The toss is also considerably lower now when compared to the toss at the 2021 Indian Wells. The angle at which he hits the ball is also slightly different now.

It seems that these changes have certainly worked for Sinner as we saw him build some serious heat during the 2022 US Open with his serves.

When will Jannik Sinner return to action?

The promising youngster posted an update on his condition on his official Instagram handle. He said that he will miss the tournament in Florence but hoped to be ready for the tournaments in Vienna and Paris.

“Frustrating to have had to retire from my match in Sofia. I’ve spoken with my doctor and been advised that I need to take a short period of time off for the ankle to recover.

Unfortunately that means I’ll miss next week’s tournament in Florence 😞. Missing a tournament in italy is extra painful for me…

However, now it’s time to work with my team to come back stronger and hopefully be ready for Vienna and Paris. Thank you for all the messages 🙏🏼🦊”
