Adrian Andreev and Corentin Moutet got involved in an ugly altercation after Andreev won the match in Orleans
French tennis player Corentin Moutet and Bulgaria’s Adrian Andreev got physical following their Orleans Challenger round-of-16 match. The incident happened during the customary post-match handshake. Andreev caused a major upset, defeating top seed Corentin Moutet 2-6, 7-6, 7-6 in the Round of 16 matches. The chair umpire had to quickly intervene to separate both the players and ensured things didn’t get even more ugly.
While at the net for a post-match handshake, the players held on to each other’s hand for a while and exchanged words. Andreev appeared to bump Moutet at the net and from that moment it became physical. After Moutet appeared to be shouted at by Andreev, he pushed the Bulgarian quite hard. Andreev then appeared to get Moutet away from himself while exchanging words with the Frenchman. That’s when the chair umpire stepped in between the two and prevented the altercation from escalating further.
