Carlos Alcaraz and Andrey Rublev have progressed to the Round of 16 and will be aiming for more at the Miami Open- watch them indulge in banter.
Carlos Alcaraz and Andrey Rublev were at their candid best after an intense practice session in Miami. Both Alcaraz and Rublev have progressed to the Round of 16 at the ATP 1000 Miami Open. While Alcaraz is scheduled to take on 16th seed Tommy Paul later today, Rublev will face the challenge of No.10 seed Jannik Sinner.
Alcaraz and Rublev sweated out in the practice courts of Miami before their crucial third-round matches tonight. The young guns had a brief verbal interaction which was recorded and has gone viral on the internet in no time. After the session, Rublev said (addressing Alcaraz): “What is this man…not even one mistake?” The Spanish teenager responded: “I’m trying to be like you. Killing the forehand, no mistakes.” The Russian then replied: “If you were trying to be like, you would be no.8 or no.9 in the World man.” The short conversation was pretty wholesome and showed the amount of mutual respect both the players have for each other.
Let us take a look at some of the reactions from fans on social media.
“Add to Rublev self-depreciating jokes:Several weeks ago he was asked about race to #1 in the world. And he replied like: Have no idea, do not participate in it”, a fan correctly pointed out.
“Dude this is incredible. How can you not love both of them”, commented another overwhelmed fan.
“I watched one of Rublev’s practice sessions in DC and it was amazing. The funniest thing though was that he got caught watching Fritz warm-up on the next court over and his hitting buddy asked if he’d rather go over there to practice”, read a comment.
Another fan wrote: “So wholesome. I want only the best for these guys.”
