Watch: Carlos Alcaraz caught in a video trying to speak German

The promising youngster from Spain, Carlos Alcaraz, has taken the tennis world by storm. He has impressed fans and critics with his skills on the court.

The 19-year-old has already won four titles this year. He is currently ranked sixth in the world. Since turning pro in 2018, Alcaraz has proven to be a quick learner and has earned praise for his work ethic.

Now the Spaniard has tried his hand at speaking German. Tennis Championship International posted a video on Twitter of Alcaraz learning German in Hamburg. Alcaraz is currently playing in the Hamburg European Championship. The talented youngster is getting good practice from participating in this tournament ahead of the US Open which begins on August 29.

In the video, Alcaraz read out some German words with confidence. His effort would get full points, but his pronunciation wouldn’t. However, he will only get better at it. In the middle of the video, one of the sentences translated to “German is pretty easy” but Alcaraz didn’t agree, and the moment was quite hilarious.

How has Carlos Alcaraz been faring at the Hamburg European Open?

Carlos Alcaraz is participating in the Hamburg European Open for the first time in his career. He is aiming to win his fifth title this year and also get some decent practice ahead of his campaign at the Flushing Meadows.

In the first match, the Spanish sensation defeated world No. 259, Nicola Kuhn, in three sets. The German tennis pro won the first set to cause a tremor but Alcaraz pulled up his socks to win the second set convincingly. The match was decided in the tiebreaker in the third set as Alcaraz eventually won 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).

He will now face Filip Krajinovic in the Round of 16. You can watch the match in the USA on Tennis Channel. In the UK, all matches will be telecast on Amazon Prime Video.
