Caroline Wozniacki is a former World No.1 but retired from tennis

Former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki took the spotlight after she posted a video of training in tennis court following her retirement.

Despite announcing her retirement from the game almost six months ago following her third-round exit in the 2020 Australian Open, Wozniacki looked as sharp as she used to be.

The 30-year-old seemed to be high on confidence after she shared a Twitter video of her playing alongside a friend on a clay court, with the caption:

“First time back on court since retirement! Not bad for 6 months away”

Wozniacki, the winner of 2018 Australian Open, is a former Danish professional tennis player, who reached World No. 1 in singles – the 20th in the Open Era.

She also holds the rare honour of being the first woman from a Scandinavian country to hold the top-ranking position. Wozniacki finished on top of the rankings in both 2010 and 2011.

Meanwhile, tennis fans from across the globe soon took to Twitter as they once again got to see Wozniacki back in action.

“We want you back in court. Lets start tennis again. You pretty woman. @CaroWozniacki”, wrote a Twitter user while another reply read, “Like Serena …no matter how long ur away from the game…. It’s in the blood…it’s like riding a bike… you’ll never loose it.”

Wozniacki became a regular name that resonated in tennis circles after she won the Wimbledon girls’ singles title back in 2006.

Apart from her one Grand Slam title, Wozniacki also won 30 WTA singles titles, including six in 2010 and 2011, the most in a year by a WTA player from 2008–2011.

Among Wozniacki’s other major achievements include a runner-up finish at the 2009 US Open and the 2010 WTA Tour Championships to Kim Clijsters, and at the 2014 US Open to Serena Williams.

Wozniacki, who won the WTA Newcomer of the Year title back in 2008 also returned to the No. 1 ranking on 29 January 2018 late in her career, following her Australian Open win that year.
