World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz is scheduled to play his first match at the Italian Open tomorrow
Fans have strange reactions if their heroes do not entertain their requests and it was visible during Carlos Alcaraz’s practice session in Italy.
Alcaraz sweated it out ahead of his opening encounter against compatriot Albert Ramos Vinolas at the Italian Open and a number of fans had gathered to watch the Spaniard in action. One of the fans requested Alcaraz for an autograph while he was entering the court but he had his hands full and couldn’t honour the request. The fan clearly lost his calm and called him a ‘piece of shit’. However, Alcaraz did maintain his composure and looked back at the fan with a smile on his face.
The footage of the incident has gone viral on social media. Reactions have poured in from fans across various platforms. Let us take a look at some of the reactions on Twitter.
Carlos Alcaraz is having an incredible 2023 season
Carlos Alcaraz is having an epic season and has already won four ATP titles this year – the Argentina Open, the Indian Wells Masters, the Barcelona Open and most recently, the Madrid Open. He is on the verge of becoming the World No.1 in men’s singles once again after successfully defending his Madrid title last week.
The Tennis world has witnessed a game of musical chairs for the No.1 between Djokovic and Alcaraz this year with both players frequently exchanging the top spot. While Djokovic currently sits on the top spot, Alcaraz is set to take it from him once the latest ATP rankings are published.
Alcaraz has been No.1 on two occasions already and will return to the top spot in the rankings after playing in Rome, as he has no points to defend, and Novak Djokovic is the defending champion.
Alcaraz became the youngest ever No.1 when he won his only Grand Slam title (the US Open) last year. He is all set to be back on the zenith of men’s tennis and would be hoping that he can stay there for a longer period of time now.
