Novak Djokovic recently revealed when he was starstruck by a celebrity

93 career titles including 22 Grand Slam titles, a former World No.1 and arguably the greatest Tennis star in the history of the sport – could a Legend of this stature get starstruck? Well, the man himself, Novak Djokovic has revealed that he indeed has been starstruck – not once, but a number of times.

In a fun ‘Never Have I Ever’ session with Roland Garros, Djoker was at his candid best and spoke about the memorable interactions with his idols. The footage has gone viral in no time and fans are having a hard time believing that even someone of Djokovic’s stature could possibly get starstruck!

Djokovic revealed that he was starstruck for the first time when he met his childhood idol Alberto Tomba back home in Serbia. Tomba is a former Alpine Ski racer from Italy, who won three Olympic gold medals, two World Championships, and nine World Cup season titles.

Djokovic was starstruck for the second time when he met his Tennis idol Pete Sampras. The Serbian superstar has always maintained that Sampras inspired him to play Tennis and meeting the American was a ‘dream come true’ moment for him. Djokovic also stated that he would probably be starstruck when he meets basketball legend Michael Jordan but he hasn’t been fortunate enough to meet him yet.

Novak Djokovic is the joint-most Grand Slam Champion of all-time

Novak Djokovic is an all-time sporting legend but he never forgets to keep his feet on the ground. Besides holding the record of being No.1 in the ATP rankings for the longest duration of time, Djokovic is also the joint most Grand Slam Champion of all-time – a record he holds along with Rafael Nadal.

He won a record tenth Australian Open title in Melbourne earlier this year. With that win, the Serbian equalled Rafael Nadal as the joint-most Grand Slam Champion in the history of Tennis – 22. Djokovic has bagged 66 ‘Big Titles’ which includes Grand Slam titles, ATP finals, ATP Masters 1000 tournaments and Olympic singles gold medals. As things stand currently, Djoker is seven ‘Big Titles’ clear of his biggest rivals – Nadal (59) and Federer (54).

Earlier this year, Djokovic became the third-oldest man in the Open Era to triumph at the Australian Open, trailing only Ken Rosewall and Federer, who both accomplished the feat aged 36. With his victory against Tsitsipas in the championship clash, the Serbian also holds the record of winning 17 consecutive matches against Top 5 opponents at the tournament. Djokovic has still got a lot to offer to Tennis and it remains to be seen where he eventually finishes by the end of his career.
