A video of Rafael Nadal in a Mallorca jersey, juggling a tennis ball with his feet has surfaced on the internet. This is not the first time that Nadal has displayed his footy skills but fans never seem to get enough of it. Nadal had a light training session ahead of the Cincinnati open and it was at the end of the session when the Spaniard showed off his impressive footy skills.
Nadal has been a lifelong fan of the Spanish football club RCD Mallorca (besides Real Madrid), which is based in his hometown where he grew up. Nadal played both tennis and football till the age of 12 and was very good for his age group. However, when it came to choosing one sport so that his studies are not affected, Rafa picked tennis and soon enough turned Pro at the age of 15 under the coaching of his uncle Toni Nadal who spotted the talent in Rafa first and pushed him toward the sport of tennis.
Rafael Nadal is preparing to be fit in time for Cincinnati Open after withdrawing from Montreal Open
Rafael Nadal has started practicing for the first time since pulling out of the 2022 Canadian Open. Due to his incomplete recovery from an abdominal injury, Nadal pulled out of the Canadian Open on Friday. His return to training has raised hopes of his participation at the Cincinnati Open, which begins on August 13.
Rafael Nadal had withdrawn from the upcoming U.S. Open warm-up tournament in Montreal, citing a continued abdominal injury that forced him to withdraw ahead of his Wimbledon semifinal with Nick Kyrgios. The U.S. Open set to begin Aug. 29.
“I hope to play again in Montreal, a tournament that I love and that I have won five times in front of an audience that has always welcomed me with great affection. I have no choice but to be prudent at this point and think about health”, wrote Nadal had written on Twitter, confirming his withdrawal from the tournament. However, it seems likely Nadal will be fit in time for the Cincinnati Open and fans are hopeful that they will be able to see their idol back in action very soon.
