Roger Federer is making the most of his post-retirement life, having announced his retirement earlier this season
Roger Federer made the weekend trip to Brooklyn to watch the Nets take on Boston Celtics in the NBA. Federer attended the match at the Barclays Center with longtime agent Tony Godsick, now the president and CEO of their TEAM8 management company. He arrived in New York for the match after a stopover at Geneva to visit the Rolex Head Quarters and an exhibit celebrating his illustrious career.
The home team, Brooklyn Nets lost 92-103 to the Celtics but Federer did receive an over-whelming ovation from the audience. Federer was the star attraction and a montage was also played in tribute on the jumbotron. The Swiss maestro has been living his best life since officially hanging up his racquets in September, traveling the globe for vacations, events and good-time outings.

Roger Federer is third on the list of men’s tennis players with the most Grand Slam wins – 20. Only Rafael Nadal (22) and Novak Djokovic (21) are ahead of him on the illustrious list. Pete Sampras with 14 is a distant fourth. Federer is so much more than just an amazing tennis player though. He is an icon for a while generation and his legacy will definitely be remembered as long as the sport of Tennis is played.
However, Federer’s decision didn’t come as a surprise as he had been struggling with a knee injury for quite a while. Federer won his maiden Grand Slam title back in 2003 and went on to lift the Wimbledon trophy eight times. During his illustrious career, the Swiss maestro won six Australian Open, one French Open, and five US Open titles. Federer was World No.1 for 310 weeks, second-most since 1973 behind only Novak Djokovic.
