Maria Sharapova is leading a private life far from the glitz and glamour of sports. The Russian star announced her retirement in February 2020. “I’m new to this, so please forgive me. Tennis – I’m saying goodbye. But as I embark on my next chapter, I want anyone who dreams of excelling in anything to know that doubt and judgement are inevitable. You’ll fail hundreds of times and the world will watch you. Accept it. Trust yourself. I promise you that you will prevail“, Sharapova wrote in her statement, announcing her retirement.
Maria Sharapova seems to be enjoying life away from tennis. The Russian isn’t quite active on Twitter but shares regular updates and pictures on Instagram. Last month, she was in Paris for a fashion show. Sharapova shared multiple images on social media where she is seen endorsing her brands and enjoying life in France. Earlier this year, Sharapova was in Los Angeles, California. The former World No. 1 moved to the U.S.A at the age of seven and has been staying there since. Sharapova owns a house in Manhattan Beach, California, and another one in Bradenton, Florida.
Sharapova welcomed the new year from the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is a beautiful territory comprising exotic beaches and provides a heavenly experience on the lap of nature. The Russian was staying in the luxurious Amanyara Resort during her time on the islands. Maria Sharapova loves to spend her time exploring various places and is a frequent visitor to France and Italy.
The Ukraine crisis just doesn’t seem to end as Russia continue to invade major cities of Ukraine. It’s a really tough phase that the world is going through and the sufferings of Ukrainian citizens can’t be described into words. Sharapova took to social media to express her feelings on the Ukraine crisis and has whole-heartedly called for peace.
In a recent post on Instagram, Sharapova wrote, “With each day that goes by, I am more and more heartbroken and deeply saddened by the images and stories of families and children affected by the escalating crisis in Ukraine. I am donating to Save the Children’s crisis relief fund, an organization working tirelessly to provide food, water and aid kits to support those in need. Please join me in making a donation. I pray for PEACE and send my love and support to all those affected.”
Although Sharapova hasn’t openly condemned the atrocities of Russian forces led by President Putin, a donation for the greater cause is definitely a wonderful gesture and received warm appreciation from fans and followers.
