Darren Cahill believes Simona Halep is not at fault for failing dope test

Darren Cahill has worked with Simona Halep for a number of years and recently opened up about Halep testing positive for a banned substance. Halep was provisionally suspended in October after returning a positive test for Roxadustat at the US Open, a drug which helps increase the production of red blood cells. The former world No 1 has since maintained her innocence and has now received support from her former coach.

Cahill had released a statement at the time when the shocking news about Halep came out. He still maintains: “There’s no way she’d ever ever cheat. She is a great woman and a great person. There’s no way she could have done the wrong thing.” It remains to be seen how things eventually turn out for Halep.
