Arthur Rinderknech is scheduled to face Fabio Fognini in the Monte Carlo Masters later today
Arthur Rinderknech is a French tennis player who has a current World Ranking of 57 in the ATP rankings. He is an emerging star from France and is gradually climbing up the ladder in men’s singles. The 26-year old turned pro in 2018 but is yet to win a title on the ATP senior professional tour.
Rinderknech was immensely successful in the ITF Juniors and Challengers series. In the senior circuit, Rinderknech has managed to defeat a top 10 ranked opponent only once in his career – he defeated Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut in the 2021 Swiss Open.
Arthur Rinderknech has a commendable win percentage of 53.7% in men’s singles on the ATP professional tour. The Frenchman has earned a total prize money of US$ 1,094,599 so far in his career.
Arthur Rinderknech didn’t make an ideal start to 2022. He began the year with the Australian Open and made a great start with a thrilling five-set win over Alexei Popyrin. However, in the very next round, he gave a walkover to his opponent, Dan Evans due to an injury.
In the Qatar Open, Rinderknech played some World-class tennis and grabbed the eyeballs of the tennis community. After defeating Jiri Vesely in the first round, Rinderknech pulled off a surprise victory against the 7th seed Alexander Bublik. Rinderknech followed it up with an incredible victory against the top seed, Denis Shapovalov before falling just short against Nikoloz Basilashvili in the semi-final.
Rinderknech had a dip in form following this tournament and didn’t quite perform to his potential in the next three events – the Dubai Tennis Championships, Indian Wells Masters and the Miami Open.
As Rinderknech prepares to take on Fognini in a while from now, he would look to stay on top of his game and get some momentum at the very beginning of the clay-court season. Rinderknech and Fognini have never faced each other before on the ATP tour. On paper, Fognini is the favourite going into the match, as the higher-ranked player.
