The current World No. 10 Hubert Hurkacz is the highest-ranked Polish man in singles history

Hubert Hurkacz has broken into the Top 10 of ATP Rankings once again after a string of consistent performances this year. The 25-year old has reached as high as No. 9 in men’s singles rankings and holds the record of being the highest-ranked singles Polish player in ATP history.

Hurkacz has won four ATP singles titles in his career so far including a Masters 1000 title at the 2021 Miami Open. He is the first Pole to win an ATP Masters 1000 title. Although Hurkacz is the highest-ranked ATP singles player in Polish history, he is quite a few steps behind from being the highest ranked Polish player of all-time. That feat lies with former World No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska, one of the most well-known faces in the WTA circuit.

Hubert Hurkacz has put on a string of consistent performances in 2022 despite not starting the year on a very good note. The Polish ace lost in the second round of the Australian Open to unseeded Adrian Mannarino at the beginning of the year however, he has recovered well post that loss.

Hurkacz made it to the semi-finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships, defeating higher-seeded Jannik Sinner in the process. He lost in the semis to the eventual champion, Andrey Rublev despite winning the first set. Hurkacz carried forward the positive momentum and has continued his good run in the ongoing Miami Open. He is scheduled to face Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-final tomorrow.

Can Hubert Hurkacz win the Miami Open for a second consecutive time?

Hubert Hurkacz caused the upset of the tournament by defeating top seed and World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev in straight sets 7-6, 6-3. Herbert Hurkacz has been very impressive throughout the tournament. The Polish star is seeded eighth in this ATP 1000 event and has certainly exceeded expectations. Hurkacz defeated Arthur Rinderknech in the first round 7-6, 6-2 and followed it up with a hard-fought win in three sets against 29th seed Aslan Karatsev. Hurkacz beat Lloyd Harris in the next round to set up a clash against Medvedev which he has now gone one to win in a convincing fashion.

Hurkacz faces an uphill task of getting past an in-form Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard has been in sublime touch and Hurkacz will have to be on top of his game if he has to have any chance of making it to the final. If Hurkacz manages to get one over Alcaraz, he would face either Francisco Cerundolo or 6th seed Casper Ruud in the final.
