Rafael Nadal will aim to make a strong comeback during the clay season of the ATP tour as he withdraws from Indian Wells and Miami Masters.
Rafael Nadal has confirmed that he will miss the ATP 1000 Indian Wells and Miami Masters tournaments. The Spaniard has been out of action with a hip injury and hasn’t played a match since his second-round loss at the Australian Open. Nadal will now look to undergo a full recovery and be back in time for the European clay court season.
Nadal confirmed on Twitter that he is skipping both tournaments. “I am sad that I won’t be able to compete at Indian Wells nor Miami. Very sad not to be there. I’ll miss all my US fans, but I hope to see them later this year during the summer swing”, he wrote. He further added: “It’s been a while since I don’t communicate with you. Took my time off, started rehab, gym and physiotherapy as instructed by the doctors. Getting ready to come back in the best conditions.” Nadal is expected to target a comeback at the Monte Carlo Masters, where he is an 11-time champion.
