The 2023 Queen’s Club Championship also known as the Cinch Championships for sponsorship reasons got underway on June 17 and will continue till June 25. The tournament is an annual event on the ATP Tour and one of the most popular and longest-running tennis events.
Established in 1889 and held at The Queen’s Club in West Kensington each June, it is consistently supported by the best singles and doubles players of the men’s game. Throughout the years, the Queen’s Club Championships has attracted some of the biggest names in tennis, including players like Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, and Roger Federer.
British players have historically performed well at the tournament, with several homegrown champions such as Andy Murray, Andy Roddick and Tim Henman.
Over the years, the tournament has seen numerous legendary players capture the title. Some notable champions include John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, and Marin Cilic. Andy Murray holds the record for the most singles titles at the Queen’s Club Championships in the Open Era. He has won the tournament five times (2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2016), solidifying his grass-court prowess. Italy’s Matteo Berrettini was crowned the singles Champion in 2022.

The 120th edition of the Queen’s Club Championships got underway on 17th June. The qualifiers of the tournament were played on June 17 and 18 while the main draw began on June 19. This ATP 500 tournament will continue till 25th June and serve as a crucial warm-up event leading to the all-important Wimbledon Championships. The top players’ of the men’s game including Carlos Alcaraz, Holger Rune, Andy Murray, Taylor Fritz, and Cameron Norrie among others are all participating in this prestigious competition.
The total prize money pool for 2023 is €2,195,175 compared to €2,134,520 in 2022. Last year, the pool was increased by 65.45% compared to 2021, but this time there hasn’t been such a significant rise. The winners at Queen’s Club will receive €477,475 compared to €399,170 in 2022, which was an increase of 250.8% compared to 2021. The runner up will bag themselves a cheque of €220,280 compared to €214,775 in 2022, which was a jump of 155.5% from its previous edition in 2021.
