ATP World No.8 Andrey Rublev will wear the apparel of his own brand during professional competitions on the tour – Rublo.
Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev has launched his own clothing brand and he has named it ‘Rublo’. No prizes for guessing that the name of the brand is inspired by his own surname. Rublo is primarily a clothing brand, but Rublev has made it clear that it’s ‘not just about clothes’. The Russian ace intends to ‘drive awareness around equality and kindness’ through his brand, with the hope of ‘making our world a better place’.
The launch of his own brand also means that Rublev will no longer be seen endorsing ‘Nike’ on the professional tour. He will instead wear his own apparel from now onwards. Rublev himself announced the launch of his own brand on social media. “We have been working on something important and close to me. And we would like to share with you something that can be bigger than just a brand, something that can help people and the planet. Something that will be a symbol of hope and kindness”, an excerpt from his official statement read.
Rublev wore the ‘Rublo’ apparel for the first time at the Adelaide International. The tournament is over for Rublev after being eliminated from both singles and doubles events but he was seen wearing the new apparel during all of his three matches. However, it was not a good outing for Rublev heading into the first Grand Slam of the year.
Rublev’s own official website states that Rublo stands for ‘what Andrey believes will make our planet a better place – Equity, Kindness, Hope.’ The description of ‘Rublo’ on his website reads: “Rublo has been created to drive awareness around equality and kindness with the hope of making our world a better place. Choose kindness for yourself, others, and our planet. We are all people and consist of the same things. There is goodness at the core of every person.”
