ABC announced on Twitter that former World No.1 Maria Sharapova will be the new guest shark of Shark Tank.
Shark Tank is a reality television series that centres on entrepreneurs making business presentations to a panel of five investors (sharks) who decide whether to invest in their company.
The ABC entrepreneurial-themed reality show has already inspired and changed the lives of hundreds of people and launched household names and successful companies.
Sharapova who launched her own entrepreneurial company ‘Sugarpova’ – a candy line, back in 2013, will feature alongside four others. The show is expected to be on air on ABC on February 28.
Once touted as the next big thing in tennis, Sharapova’s career did not go in the right direction, partly due to injuries.
Donna Vekic knocked the Russian out of the 2020 Australian Open. Sharapova last won a Grand Slam back in 2014 at Roland Garros.
Maria Sharapova will embrace her eighth World Tennis Team (WTT) season with Orange County Breakers.
The Russian will play two home matches on July 28 and 29 against San Diego Aviators and New York Empire.
Sharapova will also appear for the Breakers for the first time since 2017 after struggling with form and constant injuries.
She will play alongside Steve Johnson, Kristyna Pliskova, Andreja Klepac and Luke Bambridge, with an aim to reach the Playoff and fight for the title for the first time in three years.
