Martina Navratilova is considered to be one of the greatest Tennis players of all-time – what cancer does she have?
Tennis legend Martina Navratilova is currently battling throat and breast cancer. She recently revealed that she has an enlarged lymph node in her neck and tests indicate that she is suffering from two forms of cancer. This is the second instance that Navratilova has been diagnosed with cancer, having previously battled breast cancer 13 years ago.
Navratilova is known to have a strong personality and she intends to fight the disease with “all that she has”. In her official statement, Navratilova said: “This double whammy is serious but still fixable. I’m hoping for a favourable outcome. It’s going to stink for a while but I’ll fight with all I have got.” Navratilova had revealed earlier that she has undergone two surgeries and four biopsies and is ready for the next stage of treatment, which involves chemotherapy and more radiation therapy.

Navratilova is not going to give up easily and one can vouch for it. She is a born fighter and she has herself asserted that she is ‘ready’ for whatever is in store for her in the form of treatment. She has faced and overcome a number of struggles and barriers throughout her life and the 66-year-old is treating this as yet another challenge.
Navratilova is considered to be one of the greatest tennis players of all-time. She has an incredible haul of 59 Grand Slams. Besides being an incredible athlete, she has been the voice of numerous other athletes and individuals across the world. She came out as a lesbian publicly in 1991 and as a consequence received severe backlash from various sections of society. However, she stood firm in her stance for the LGBTQ+ community and set an example for everyone within the sporting fraternity and beyond.
