Jelena Ostapenko is an established player in both singles and doubles but sometimes even the best get it wrong
Do you remember when Jelena Ostapenko hit her mixed doubles partner twice off her serve? Well, the first instance happened at Wimbledon in 2018 when Ostapenko and her partner Robert Lindstedt were playing Makoto Ninomiya and Andres Molteni in the second round of the competition. Ostapenko hit a serve straight into the back of Lindstedt’s head at the beginning of the first set. It was repeated again in the Round of 16 when the pair was playing against John Peers and Zhang Shuai.
The footage of this hilarious incident has recently resurfaced on the internet and fans are having a good time making it viral on social media. Ostapenko’s presence on the court is equally entertaining for fans present at the stadium as well as viewers on other platforms. Be it her verbal nods, expressions or her unique style statement, she always manages to keep the fans engaged. She has always maintained that it’s really difficult for her to find a balance of emotions while playing and while incidents such as these are certainly not intentional, one can’t deny that they do give the viewers an opportunity to have a good laugh.
Jelena Ostapenko is currently playing at the Qatar Open
Ostapenko has been doing pretty well in both singles and doubles on the WTA tour. She is currently playing at the WTA Qatar Open and will face No. 2 seed Jessica Pegula in the Round of 16 later today. The Latvian star defeated Madison Keys 7-5, 6-2 in her first round encounter.

Last month, she reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open and scripted history by becoming the first female Latvian player to reach this round at this Grand Slam.
