Taylor was named the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Freshman of the Year and first-team All-OVC as a true freshman, averaging 15.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. He was named first-team All-OVC as a sophomore after averaging 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.
Taylor declared for the 2020 NBA Draft following the season, but he kept his college eligibility and returned for his senior year.

After being passed over in the NBA draft in 2021, Taylor joined the Indiana Pacers on August 5, 2021. However, he was cut loose in October, and nine days later he signed on as an affiliate player with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
