Top seed Bianca Andreescu takes on world No. 104 Harriet Dart in the round of 32 of the Thailand Open on Tuesday.
The Canadian youngster received a wild card to play in the tournament. Andreescu comes into the tournament with a 2-2 win-loss record this season.
The 2019 US Open champion got off to an eventful start in the new season as she came back from a 6-0 loss in the first set to defeat Gabrine Muguruza in the first round of the Adelaide International 1. In the second round, Andreescu lost to Veronika Kudermetova 6-4, 6-0, receiving her second bagel of the season. At the Australian Open, Andreescu got the better of 25th seed Marie Bouzkova 6-2, 6-4. However, this thumping win was followed by a loss in the second round to Cristina Bucsa.
The British star began the season by playing in the inaugural United Cup. She defeated Maddison Inglis but lost to Jessica Pegula on a couple of occasions in contrasting styles.
In the Australian Open, Dart faced 32nd seed, Jil Teichmann. The Swiss star won the match relatively easily in straight sets 7-5, 6-1. Dart will hope to bounce back strongly in the Thailand Open. A win against the top seed will surely give her a lot of confidence going forward.
Bianca Andreescu has a slender 2-1 lead in the head-to-head scoreline against Harriet Dart. The Canadian star defeated Dart in three sets in their most recent encounter in the 2021 Canadian Open.
