Top seed Bianca Andreescu takes on an upbeat Lesia Tsurenko in the semifinals of the 2023 Thailand Open on Saturday.

The 2019 US Open champion is yet to drop a set in the three matches she has played so far in the competition. However, she has had to fight hard in some sets.
In the round of 32, Andreescu defeated Harriet Dart 6-3, 6-4 with a solid performance. She outplayed Anastasia Zakharova in the round of 16 in the first set. The second set was a close affair but Andreescu managed to hold on. The match finished 6-2, 7-5. The quarterfinals saw Andreescu face 5th seed Marta Kostyuk. Andreescu handed a bagel to the Ukrainian youngster in the first set. The 22-year-old led 5-1 in the second set but Kostyuk managed to bounce back and give Andreescu a real scare. In the end, it was Andreescu who emerged victorious in the tiebreak as the match finished 6-0, 7-6 (7-3).
Lesia Tsurenko
The Ukrainian veteran has reached her first WTA semifinal since Brisbane 2019. She has defeated a couple of seeded players en route to the semis.
In the round of 32, Tsurenko had to fight hard against world No. 97 Ysaline Bonaventure. The match ended 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in favor of Tsurenko. She committed 10 double faults in the match but that didn’t cost her. In the second round, Tsurenko had a great time in the first set. She bageled 4th seed Anna Kalinskaya in the first set. However, the Russian star managed to come back and win a tightly-contested second set. Eventually, it was Tsurenko who won the match. Kalinskaya made way too many unforced errors. Tsurenko played a near-perfect game in the quarterfinals against 6th seed Tatjana Maria The match was a one-sided affair as Tsurenko won 6-1, 6-1.
