American Reilly Opelka emerged the Delray Beach Open champion recently overcoming Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka in the final
US tennis player Reilly Opelka shared his secret to winning after the Delray Beach Open triumph.
Opelka, one of the tallest players in the ATP circuit overcame Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka 7-5, 6-7, 6-2 to claim his first-ever Delray Beach Open title.
With this victory, Opelka also claimed his second ATP tour trophy since winning the New York Open in February last year.
Opelka was being interviewed by the tournament broadcaster after his win decided to share some secrets behind his success.
When asked if his recipe for success was Netflix and chilling with his friends from the ATP circuit, Opelka replied,
“I mean that’s usually the recipe in general, to be honest, that’s every week. I am going to go to Mexico tomorrow, we are going to do the same thing. Fritzo will bring his play station. I don’t play but I watch him play. That’s just as entertaining.”

“He breaks like three controllers every week. That’s my Christmas gift to him every year is like 7 PlayStation controllers. I usually give him like three about March but yeah, I am excited to see those guys tomorrow,” Opelka said.
Opelka, who was talking about his on-court rival and friend Taylor Fritz, also from America, thus gave a brief idea of his preparations before a match.
Opelka to feature in Mexico Open
Meanwhile, Opelka who tasted success recently at the Delray Beach Open will play at the ongoing Mexico Open in Acapulco, which kicked off on Monday.
Opelka will be joined by the likes of World No.2 and tournament top seed Rafael Nadal, Australian Nick Kyrgios, Stan Wawrinka, his American compatriot John Isner among many others.
Opelka will take on top-ranked South Korean Kwon Soon-woo in the first-round match on Wednesday. The two recently met each other at the Delray Beach Open quarterfinals, their only head-to-head encounter to date, where the American emerged the winner.
In that match, Opelka overcame the South Korean 6-3, 6-4 to advance into the semi-finals.
