An upcoming survival horror video game from Striking Distance Studios, Callisto Protocol is developed by Striking Distance Studios and published by Krafton. On Jupiter’s moon Callisto, a prison colony known as Black Iron is run by the United Jupiter Company in 2320. 

As Jacob Lee (Josh Duhamel) a prisoner, you are thrown into the midst of an alien invasion that appears to be orchestrated by the warden of Black Iron. The Callisto Protocol Release Date

The Callisto Protocol is set to release on December 2, 2022. The game has already gone gold, meaning development is effectively complete, according to the official Twitter account on October 21. Its release date was reiterated during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022.

Callisto Protocol fans living in Japan have one major caveat. The game is not scheduled for release in Japan due to the game’s level of violence. This is according to a tweet from the developers.

The Callisto Protocol Gameplay

A story set in the year 2320, Callisto Protocol takes place on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto. In particular, it takes place at a rather unnerving penitentiary known as the Black Iron Prison. The game stars Jacob Lee, a prison inmate. After many of his fellow prisoners begin to transform into horrifying monsters, the facility becomes chaotic for Jacob.

Jacob must now try to escape from the Black Iron Prison. Through his journey, he will learn about the unimaginable horrors of the prison. Callisto Protocol is described as a blend of horror, action, and immersive story-telling, but it also has some classic fighting game-like features, such as dodge moves that make combat seem challenging. So far, there is only a solo story mode – no co-op – that uses the third-person perspective.

You’re probably going to be better off using your flashlight and health injectors now. The horrors of the abandoned prison aren’t the only dangers. Your surroundings – in this case, giant fans – can also pose problems. Fortunately, a more stealth-oriented playstyle appears to be an option for people who enjoy stealth games.

On the official website, it was said that the player is put in a life-or-death situation each time they encounter an enemy, so they’ll use whatever means they have available to help them. There are ranged and melee weapons, as well as a gravity weapon previously used by the prison guards.

With The Callisto Protocol reveal trailer, we got to see the Dead Moon’s desolate landscape and hidden horrors for the first time. During the film, the beginning of the downfall of the Black Iron Prison is shown. A cellmate turns into a monster and kills one of the inmates. Before a spaceship reaches the planet, a third person witnesses the event through security cameras.

We see our protagonist walking toward a building that resembles a surveillance tower in the Summer Game Fest 2022 trailer. A villainous voiceover informs our hero that his old life is over, and that his new life is entirely within his control. Aside from zombie-like monsters, spidery monsters, worm-like monsters, and face-devouring monsters, the trailer introduces zombie-like monsters, spidery monsters, and worm monsters.
