How to get The Catch Polearm in Genshin Impact – Guide

Published by

The newly released polearm, The Catch is a wonderful weapon for all free to play players of Genshin Impact. Here is how you can get the weapon and the refinement materials.

The 4-star polearm that looks like a two-pronged fork was introduced in the game in the 2.1 update. It is a great weapon for all the free to play players as they do not need to rely on the gacha system and spend any money. The players will simply have to catch some fish to unlock the new weapon.

Also, the most important factor that has made it so powerful is that the players can also collect the refinement material in a similar way and refine it to level 5. Increasing the refinement level will mean that the weapon will have a stronger passive ability. This will increase the damage output of the weapon and thus, will result in faster battles.

The Catch

The Catch is a blue coloured two-pronged polearm that was initially used as a harpoon to catch fish. It was originally used by a famous Inazuman Bandit to catch fish and also turned out to be very useful in battle. This 4-star polearm can be obtained from the Inazuma Fishing Association.

The Catch has a base attack of 42 with Energy Recharge as the sub stat. At level 1, The catch gives 10% more Energy Recharge. The Catch also has a passive ability that increases the Elemental Burst damage by 16% and the Elemental Burst Crit rate by 6%. This can be later increased by buying the refinement materials and refining the weapon to level 5.

How to get The Catch

Although this is a free weapon, players need to complete certain tasks to be able to unlock it. First of all, Players must complete the story quest and get to Inazuma Islands. There they will have to complete a quest for the Inazuma Fishing Association. You can find Kujirai Momoji outside Inazuma City and can be accessed easily by using the teleport point to the south of Byakko Plain. If you have completed all the prerequisites, you can exchange the fish to obtain The Catch, its refinement materials and Narukawa Ukai, a special Inazuman Fishing Rod.

To actually obtain The Catch in Genshin Impact, players will need to use the new fishing feature and ‘catch’ three different types of fish. The players will need to catch Six Raimei Angelfish, Twenty Golden Koi and Twenty Rusty Koi.

Raimei Angelfish

To get the refinement materials, you will need to catch some more fish. You will need Three Raimei Angelfish, Ten Pufferfish and Ten Bitter Pufferfish to obtain one refinement material. So in all, to refine it to level 5, you will need 12 Raimei Angelfish, 40 Pufferfish and 40 Bitter Pufferfish.

Fish Locations

Raimei Angelfish

The Raimei Angelfish are the most difficult to catch, and they can be found near the shipwreck east of Tartarasuna and southeast of the Kujou encampment. They are only found in this specific location from 18:00 to 06:00. You will need to use False Worm bait to catch one of these.

Golden Koi

The Golden Koi can be found in a variety of locations. The first is on Seirai Island, which is between Koseki Village and Fort Hiraumi in a channel. If you travel south down the beach on the island where Koseki Village is located on the west side of the channel, you should be able to find it easily.

In Liyue, it can also be found near the ruins at Luhua Pool, on the beach west of Wangshu Inn, below the broken bridge west of Mingyun Village, and in Mondstadt, just south of the Whispering Woods on Cider Lake, and at the Stormbearer Mountains area. You will need to use Fake Fly Bait to catch one of these.

Rusty Koi

Rusty Koi can be found in the same places as the Golden Koi. The only difference is, they are not available at the spot near Stormbearer Mountains. Otherwise, you can catch these fish along with the Golden Koi. You will need to use Fake Fly Bait to catch one of these.

Pufferfish

These can be located in Inazuma off the coast of Ritou Harbour or near the southernmost tip of Seirai Island, which is home to Fort Hiraumi. They’re also on the point that extends out to the east of Liyue Harbor. They may be found in Mondstadt at the island to the west of Dawn Winery and to the south of Mondstadt on Cider Lake, on the opposite side of the city. You will need to use Fake Fly Bait to catch one of these.

Pufferfish and Bitter Pufferfish Locations – Monstadt

Bitter Pufferfish

Similar to the Rusty Koi, these can be fished at the same spots as their counterparts. You will find them at all the locations mentioned above for the Pufferfish. Along with that, you will also find them at Nazuchi Beach directly opposite Takashi’s Conch house. They can also be found near Qingce Village in the pool to the west of the Oceanid boss arena. You will need to use Fake Fly Bait to catch one of these.

Fish Respawn times

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to catch all the fish in one day and exchange them for the weapon and the refinement materials. Just like all the annoying mechanics of Genshin Impact, the fishing spots mentioned above have a respawn time. You will need to wait three days before going back to the same spot.

Another thing that you can do is change the time in-game when you have finished catching all of the fish in a spot. You can find some more fish respawned at the same spot. This world for all of the fish above with the exception of the elusive Raimei Angelfish which is only found at night.
