Chan Sung Jung was born in Pohang, South Korea on the 17th of March, 1987. He grew up with his aunt, due to the busy work schedule of his parents.
He trained in kickboxing at a very young age and graduated from the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology.
He has quite an impressive kickboxing record of 15 wins and 6 losses. The South Korean made his MMA debut on the 24th of June, 2007 and in 4 years time joined the UFC.
Today he is the number 8 ranked featherweight in the UFC.

In just 1 and a half year’s time he was 9-0 in his professional MMA career. In 2010, The Korean Zombie moved to WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting), which was a part of the UFC. He lost both of his matches at WEC.
However, he still landed a UFC contract and made his debut in the promotion on the 26th of March, 2011.
In 2012, Jung famously beat the dangerous and young Dustin Poirier via. technical submission due to a D’Arce choke. Following that victory he fought against Jose Aldo for the featherweight title, but was knocked out by the Brazilian.
He then had a hiatus of almost 4 years, due to mandatory military service in South Korea. He returned with a bang on the 4th of February in 2017, knocking out Dennis Bermudez with a stunning punch.
