The Newest Features of the WSOP’s Online Competition

All poker fans look forward to the World Series of Poker. This is the largest and most popular gaming vent in the world, with over $3 billion dollars being won in the past. It all started in 1970 and while it looked slightly different back then, the WSOP has continued to expand and get even greater. In particular, some events are now taking place online, which shows how the tournament is evolving with technology. Let’s take a look at the newest features of the World Series of Poker online competition.

2020 Meant Changes for Poker

There is no doubt that recent world events have meant changes for poker in recent years. In particular, in 2020, in-person poker games were off the table at the World Series of Poker. But, instead of everyone missing out on a tournament they love, the organizers decided it was time to have something else. They created the World Series of Poker Online. This was an online tournament that lasted around two months. It was one of the biggest online tournaments that we have seen for poker and it was largely a success.

The online tournament meant a lot of prize money, plus the opportunity to win gold bracelets. The partnership withGGPoker.com meant that the tournament was very successful. In particular, one of the features that made it so great was that it allowed players from outside of the United States to participate online. Overall, the competition was a success, with prize pools of around $26,871,265. There were also 31 bracelet events.

A lot of poker fans are excited that the World Series of Poker is returning to in-person games at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. This year is guaranteed to be bigger and better than ever before, with a lot of money up for grabs and a lot of events to enjoy. This is a competition that you cannot beat and it is fun to watch. But, it was also announced that the WSOP online competition would be resuming too. The success of last year meant that it was a certainty to come back. There were 33 bracelet events that players could win.

The 2021 competition has seen some new features that are interesting. In particular, there are several theme weeks on the domestic schedule.  There were also some favorite competitions, such as the ‘Lucky Seven’s No Limit Hold ‘Em and the ‘Crazy Eights’ buy-in NLHE event. Some of the newest elements to the online competition this year was the increase in events. This meant that there were two bracelet events every day, which was an increase from one in 2020. There was the first-ever Championship Week.  But, let’s not forget that this competition featured the largest prize pool ever guaranteed, which was $1 million.

There have also been new states that are being able to enjoy the World Series of Poker online. For example, players in Nevada and New Jersey are able to take part. But, there are now players from Pennsylvania and Michigan allowed to join in too. In addition, there is going to be an international portion of this competition held for players outside the United States. This is going to take place from August to September 2021.

There is no doubt that people are loving having an online World Serie of Poker. The success of 2020 meant that this tournament continued to expand in 2021. So, this year is going to tell whether 2022 will progress the WSOP online even further.
