Why Tottenham Hotspur should not hesitate to sign Bradley Dack

As per a report from the Express, Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a January move for EFL Championship star Bradley Dack. Having not signed a single player in the summer transfer window, the Lilywhites need to strengthen their squad in the winter and have reportedly identified the Blackburn Rovers midfielder as a potential target.

Dack joined Blackburn in 2017 from Gillingham and played a huge role in helping them earn promotion to the Championship. Dack plundered 18 goals and set up 9 more in 42 League One matches last season, helping his team to a second-place finish and automatic promotion.

And the Englishman has carried on from where he left off last season. So far in his debut campaign in the Championship, the midfielder has bagged 6 goals and assisted two more in ten appearances. Meanwhile, he also scored two and set up three in his solitary Carabao Cup appearance this term.

The midfielder’s rise in the lower echelons of English football hasn’t gone unnoticed as England national team manager Gareth Southgate watched him in action recently (h/t Express).

Tottenham are off to a steady start to the season, despite the lack of transfer activity in the summer. Mauricio Pochettino’s men sit fourth in the Premier League table, with 21 points from nine matches, just two points below leaders Manchester City.

In Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, the North London outfit have two of the finest attacking midfielder at their disposal. However, both of them have been suffering from injury problems this season.

In Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela, they have able deputies but it never hurts to add more quality to the squad, especially since the lack of quality bench strength has been a problem for the Lilywhites in recent seasons. And that is where signing Dack could prove to be extremely handy for the club.

A naturally gifted attack-minded midfielder, the 24-year-old has the ability to create goals in plenty with defence-splitting through passes and can find the back of the net with utmost regularity. A quality finisher, Dack also possesses the ability to drive at opponents with his dribbling skills and can cause problems with his sharp movement and intelligent link-up play.

At 24, the Englishman has his best years in front of him and has proven that he has what it takes to make the step up to the big stage. If he continues to grow at this rate, Tottenham could well have another Alli at their hands, whom they unearthed from the lower leagues only a few years ago.
