Why Man United should arrange a loan move for Dylan Levitt

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United youngster Dylan Levitt is weighing up his options ahead of a proposed loan move away from Old Trafford this summer.

As per the report, the Red Devils are trying to arrange loan moves for a number of their academy prospects, including the likes of James Garner and Tahith Chong. Levitt is also on the club’s loan list.

Levitt has attracted interest from several clubs in the Championship while clubs abroad have also taken a look at the 19-year-old midfielder, who earned a call-up to Ryan Giggs’ senior Wales side earlier in the year.

Born in Bodelwyddan, Wales, Dylan Levitt started his footballing education in the youth ranks at Man United, representing the Red Devils across various age-group levels. The highly-rated central midfielder initially impressed in the U-18 Premier League before earning promotion to the U-23 side in the Premier League 2.

The 19-year-old’s impressive form at the youth level was rewarded with a first-team debut against Astana in the Europa League back in November. That remains his only senior outing for the Red Devils so far.

Levitt also featured prominently for United’s U-23 side last season, registering 3 goals and 4 assists to help them secure promotion to the Premier League 2 Division 1.

Loan move – A fair settlement for both parties?

Essentially a central midfielder by trade with a knack for chipping in with goals and assists, (as evident from his youth record) Levitt is held in high regard by the United coaching team.

Red Devils legend Ryan Giggs recently discussed Levitt’s chances of making his senior international debut for Wales in the foreseeable future while coining the 19-year-old as an intelligent player with a good range of passing who stands out with his effort in every training session.

Suffice to say, Levitt is a real talent with massive potential but one who is unlikely to enjoy regular game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer next season. The Red Devils already have enough competition for places in central midfield, with established names like Fred, Pogba, Matic, McTominay, and several others vying for a starting role every week.

The teenager needs to go out on loan to some other club, preferably in the Championship, where he would be a regular starter week in, week out, rather than warming the bench at United and playing occasionally in a domestic cup game.

Verdict

Dylan Levitt needs more competitive football under his belt if he is to realise his true potential and evolve into a future first-team player at a club of United’s stature. Having said that, a loan move elsewhere should do him a world of good.
