The Robert Stone Brand seems to be facing a lot of problems after this week’s NXT
The Robert Stone Brand was one of the main talking points from this week’s WWE NXT. They featured heavily in a couple of segments during the show.
One clicked and one didn’t. This week’s NXT had some really good moments and some not too great, and we start off with the misses.
Io Shirai’s photo-shoot was ruined as Aliyah, Robert Stone and Shotzi Blackheart interrupted. That led to a crazy moment with Shirai and Blackheart teaming up to destroy Stone and Aliyah.
This is becoming a regular occurrence now with Stone being the butt of many jokes. WWE could have led to the Shirai vs Blackheart climax without these shenanigans, and it seems that they do see Stone as comic relief and Tony Khan.
Killian Dain destroyed Drake Maverick after his match on NXT. While Dain was attacked by the Undisputed Era it was Maverick who came out to save him.
Dain acting all strong is great for his character but knocking Maverick out was a bit too much. He could have just walked out on him and all but it seems WWE want to push this rivalry before they team up.
The first match of the evening saw Finn Balor and Adam Cole fight it out for the vacant NXT title.
The pair put on a clinic as they took each other to the limit. It was great to see no crazy finishes or controversy at the end of this match.
This was a quality match and it was interesting to see that Balor was made the champion ahead of Cole.
Mercedes Martinez seems to have outgrown the Robert Stone brand or is it vice versa? Stone confirmed that the pair had split after NXT’s main event.
Martinez has looked great since wrestling on NXT and this was quite an expected outcome. She never looked a good fit to work under Stone and this opens the doors for her to get involved in other storylines.
Speaking of Martinez, she put on quite a show in the main event too. Rhea Ripley and Martinez met in a steel cage match and tore things down.
They used a ton of weapons in the clash and no one knew who was going to win. Robert Stone turned out to be a hindrance for Martinez and in the end, she had to go through a table as Ripley won.
This was a brilliant steel cage match and speaks volumes of the talent that Ripley and Martinez have.
