Nathaniel Wood has lost his last fight in the UFC
Nathaniel Wood might not have had the best of times in his last fight but the English star was pleased to sign a new UFC deal.
The Prospect, as Wood is called, confirmed that he was signing a new deal despite a few setbacks. The 28-year-old, however, we confident that things would get better and confirmed he was moving up a division.
The 28-year-old is a former Cage Warriors Bantamweight Champion, and it seems like he will be trying his luck out in the Featherweight division in the UFC.
Alexander Volkanovski is the UFC Featherweight Champion, but that seems to be a long way for Wood at the moment. Max Holloway is another top star and Wood needs to get some big wins under his belt before getting a title shot.
Wood was expected to fight Liudvik Sholinian at Fight Night 204. However, the war between Russia and Ukraine ensured that Sholinian couldn’t leave his country. Vince Morales was stated to replace Sholinian but the fight was called off after Morales pulled out due to illness.
Wood confirmed that he had a fight date recently after a post on social media.
However, the Englishman didn’t add any further details. It will be interesting to see if he fights in his new division and against whom.
Wood came into the UFC with a 13-3 record. He then picked up three wins on the spin. However, the 28-year-old has two losses in his last three bouts.
His last outing against Casey Kenny didn’t go as planned, but Wood seems energised for his return to the Octagon.
