Theo Pinson NBA Career
The 6ft guy started his high school basketball career by joining the Wesleyan Christian Academy in North Carolina. During his senior year, with his brilliant performance in the all-star game, he earned the title of McDonald’s All-American. His serious form in all the matches he played during his senior year grabbed him a spot in the USA Basketball U16 team.
His college career is just the upside-down of what he had done in his high school period. During his freshman year, he broke the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot and was left bed-rested for a couple of months. This cost him the first 14 games of his freshman year. With a lot of hope, the shooting guard entered his sophomore season which fortunately was injury free. But at the end of the season, he again ended up injuring his right foot bone.
Nothing stopped him from his focus and was working harder to pull things up. His gameplay was the major factor for the Tar Heels to grab two consecutive national championships. His strategic thinking and planning were something his teammates praise for.
He went undrafted in the 2018 NBA draft and joined the Brooklyn Nets for the 2018 NBA summer league. The shooting guard signed a two-way contract that states the player should split equal time between practice sessions with the Brooklyn Nets and their NBA G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets.
His NBA debut was against the Indiana Pacers and faced a 113 – 112 defeat. On seeing his form, the Nets decided to transform his temporary contract to a full NBA contract. In the 2019 season, the team management played Pinson in the five for more minutes. He was sacked by the Nets at the end of his contract.
During the 2020 and 2021 seasons, he didn’t seal a complete contract instead ended up as a free agent signing two-way contracts with the Westchester Knicks.
In the middle of the 2021 season, initially, Pinson signed a 10-day contract with Dallas Mavericks which was later turned into a one-year contract by the Mavericks.
