Three summer signings who have flopped in the Premier League so far

The ongoing Premier League season is close to the hitting the halfway mark and like always, there has been a lot of ups and downs. Newcomers Sheffield United have made inroads into the top-six while Leicester City are placed 2nd and are ahead of defending champions Manchester City, who are currently in the 4th spot.

In addition to several heroes and flops among the competing clubs, there have also been numerous players who joined for hefty fees but have failed to impress.

With that in mind, here are 3 flops who have failed to justify their price tags thus far in the English top-flight.

Moise Kean – Everton

Last season, Kean was a standout performer for Juventus and at 19, he seemed like the next big thing in European football. However, fast forward to November 2019 and his struggles seem to have no end.

The pace and intensity of the Serie A are relatively mellow when compared to the Premier League but as far as Everton are concerned, things have been going downhill for them.

In 9 league games so far, he is yet to score a single goal and has assisted only once. If this continues, the Toffees will have quite a problem to deal with in the near future.

Nicolas Pepe – Arsenal

After scoring 22 goals in 38 Ligue 1 games last season, Arsenal seemed to have gotten a gem of a player in the summer. However, in 11 league games so far, he has chipped in only with 1 goal and 2 assists. These numbers hardly do justice to the reputation he built at Lille. And as a result, Arsenal are struggling.

Unai Emery is under immense pressure at the moment and unless Pepe tries to improve his numbers anytime soon, the Gunners board will have some tough decisions to make.

Tanguy Ndombele – Tottenham Hotspur

After Mousa Dembele’s departure, it seemed only natural for Tottenham to splurge and sign Ndombele. Unfortunately for Mauricio Pochettino though, things have been far from rosy.
Following 12 Premier League games so far, Spurs are placed a lowly 14th. And as far as Ndombele is concerned, he has hardly made any sort of impact at the club.

To make matters worse, the midfielder picked up an injury that has complicated the situation further. One can only hope that he justifies his price tag upon regaining fitness or else, the north Londoners will have an uphill task ahead of them.
