Premier League Opinion: 4 Premier League destinations for Vincenzo Grifo

According to an exclusive report from TEAMtalk, Everton, Watford Southampton and Bournemouth are said to be keen on signing 25-year-old Freiburg winger Vincenzo Grifo in the summer as they look to bolster their respective squads ahead of next season.

Vincenzo Grifo is an Italian left-winger, who currently plays from Freiburg in the Bundesliga on loan from high-flying TSG Hoffenheim. After all, they boast one of the brightest young rosters in European football today.

Capable of playing anywhere across the front-line, the Italian international winger did come through the ranks at lower league German clubs before he was evenatully scouted and signed by Hoffenheim back in 2013. Since then, he has spent a multitude of loan spells – all within the borders of Germany.

He was then signed by Freiburg in 2015 and then by Borussia Monchengladbach in 2017 before only to be re-sold to Hoffenheim in the summer prior to the start of the current Bundesliga season. He was shipped back out on loan in January to Freiburg as his German expedition didn’t seem to be losing pace.

Quite a pacy customer, his movement and sharpness on the ball are impeccable while shooting from outside the box is one of his biggest strengths. He is a free-kick specialist who is capable of surprising the keeper from the longest of distances. His attacking prowess is what has attracted such intense Premier League interest.

This season, he has played 16 games in the Bundesliga and has managed to pick up 4 goals and 6 assists despite having started in less than half of all the games. He made his international debut for Italy in November 2018 as well.

Here are the 4 Premier League clubs where Grifo could end up prior to the start of next season:

Southampton

The Saints have looked heavily short of imagination at times this season and despite the good form being showcased by English winger Nathan Redmond, the rest of the squad hasn’t been performing up to standard.

Grifo can the right player to come in and take over one of the flanks and really form a partnership with one of the wide array of striker in the Saints’ ranks.

Everton

With Richarlison often being utilised as a central striker, Everton have looked short of midfield cover at times despite having a fairly deep squad.

With the heavily inconsistent Theo Walcott now 30, this should be the perfect moment for Marco Silva to splurge in the transfer window in bring in a player like Grifo to rejuvenate the Toffees attack.

Watford

Watford’s squad is a fairly strong one already but the injury to Roberto Pereyra earlier in the season did bring some of their fragilities to light.

While Will Hughes and Ken Sema have filled in to considerable effect, the addition of a player like Grifo can be exactly what Jave Gracia needs to take this Hornets side to the next level.

Bournemouth

The Cherries possesses one of the deadliest attacks in the league but one point of concern for Eddie Howe will be the lack of depth on the flanks.

David Brooks and Ryan Fraser have performed up to scratch but Junior Stanislaw and Jordan Ibe haven’t quite stepped. Vincenzo Grifo has the right mix of ability and experience to prosper in the English game and Eddie Howe must get him.
