Burnley Opinion: Why the Clarets should make a move for Guven Yalcin?

According to a report from Turkish website Takvim, Burnley are one of the clubs interested in signing Burnley starlet Guven Yalcin.

The German-born attacker, 20, is coming to the end of a really strong season with Besiktas, scoring five goals and supplying three assists in 20 games across all competitions after his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in 2018.

And the 20-year-old’s performances have been also monitored by the likes of Wolfsburg and Freiburg, adds Takvim. Burnley are also said to be interested in Guven Yalcin, who has shone at Besiktas under Senol Gunes in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Clarets have achieved safety in the Premier League, with Sean Dyche’s side somehow managing to get to the magic 40-point mark. Dyche’s men failed to live up to the high expectations of the fans after they managed a place in the Europa League qualifiers by finishing seventh last season. Many would have expected Burnley to put up the same fight, but nothing has gone according to plan.

Things need to improve ahead of the next season, meaning Dyche has to invest smartly in the summer transfer window. One area that the Clarets boss should look to reinforce is his attacking options. The Lancashire outfit are crying out for a creative as well as goalscoring attacker to complement the likes of Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood.

Burnley have been heavily reliant on Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood for their goals this campaign. Failure from the other players to contribute significantly in terms of goals has been a massive reason in their downfall. That’s one of the primary reasons why Dyche should go all out to sign Guven Yalcin in the summer.

Yalcin is not only a talented wide player but he is more than capable of leading the line for his team. Yet, it’s out on the wings that the German-born starlet flourishes using a combination of skill, pace and will to beat players. A technically gifted player, the youngster is very direct in the final third and always looks to take on the opposition full-back.

The former Bayer Leverkusen product has a fantastic eye for a pass and is often seen pulling them off with pinpoint accuracy. Yalcin runs his times very well down the wings and he has all the qualities to become a fantastic player. The Turkish attacker also puts a decent shift defensively, which should make him an ideal fit under Dyche at the Turf Moor.

Verdict

Yalcin is under contract at the Vodafone Arena until June 2022, so Burnley certainly have to splash a lot of money to secure his signature in the summer.
