Roy Hodgson has managed to build an extremely dynamic and power squad at Selhurst Park with the help of the owners and backroom staff at Crystal Palace. He has managed to bring a talented group of players together and has even managed to get them playing his brand of attacking football.
Despite their relatively lower transfer budget when compared to other mid-table clubs they have managed to make an impression on the league table this term. Their performances have been excellent at times and Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend have stood out as the star men.
While they certainly won’t be overly satisfied with the fact that they have only managed to secure 14th place at this point in time and as not threatening as that sounds, in the Premier League, things can turn around very quickly for teams.
With around a quarter of the season left to play with 10 games to go, Crystal Palace find themselves 5 points clear of Cardiff City in 18th place. This could come to haunt the Eagles in the coming weeks unless they show the composure and professionalism to come through this difficult period with safety.
The main worry for Hodgson this season has been the lack of goals from the strikers at his disposal. Former Liverpool man Christian Benteke is yet to score a goal in the league this season while Jordan Ayew is the only recognised forward in the Palace ranks to have registered a goal.
This needs to be fixed next season because in a league as adaptive as the Premier League, teams are improving and progressing by the season and getting stuck in a rut because of not having a goalscoring outlet can lead them to relegation in the coming years.
With the best interest of the club in mind, moving for a striker should be Roy Hodgson’s biggest priority in the upcoming transfer window Santos Borre could be the right man lead Palace to bigger things in the Premier League next season.
The Colombian is only 23-years-old and still has a massive future ahead of him. His movement and sharpness in attack have been the envy of many defenders in the Argentine Primera Division where he represents River Plate.
He has made 17 appearances for the historic club this season and has managed to find the back of the net 4 times while he has also notched up two assists. One of the highlights of his season came in the FIFA Club World Cup when he scored 3 goals from his teams’ 2 fixtures.

His brilliance is renowned and his services are bound to be in demand in the coming years unless Palace are able to complete a move for the youngster. He would certainly be a positive signing for the Eagles and he can develop into a star at Selhurst Park.
