According to a report from Leicester Mercury, Leicester City had sent scouts to watch FC Porto star Alex Telles against Sporting Lisbon last week.
The Brazilian, 26, has been a consistent performer for Porto ever since joining from Turkish giants Galatasaray in 2016. Alex Telles had a highly productive 2018/19 campaign, registering 13 assists from the left side of the pitch for Porto, and even finding the back of the net six times across all competitions.
His displays have caught the attention of a number of clubs, including Leicester City, who could be in for a busy summer transfer window under the management of Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers has done extremely well since arriving at the King Power Stadium a few months ago, transforming the Leicester players’ attitude and gave an identity to the team which was lost under Claude Puel. After a ninth-placed finish, the Irishman will strive hard to make his squad capable of breaking into the top six next season.
And for that to happen, the Foxes will need reinforcements over the summer. Ben Chilwell has been linked with a move to Manchester City and would leave a substantial hole in Rodgers’ starting eleven. So, the Leicester manager’s first job will be to bring in Chilwell’s replacement and Alex Telles would be an ideal choice.
Leicester already share a positive relationship with Porto having signed Ricardo Pereira just a year back. Pereira has enjoyed a brilliant debut season at the King Power Stadium and was rightfully voted both the club’s Player of the Season and the Players’ Player of the Season at Leicester’s annual awards ceremony.
The Foxes will hope the same with Telles, who has been one of the best left-backs in Portugal in the last two seasons. An attacking left-back, the Brazilian is adept at creating chances as well as scoring goals. He can also play in an advanced role on the left, which means the former Galatasaray man can provide cover as well as offer competition for the wide trio of Demarai Gray, Harvey Barnes and Marc Albrighton.
Skilful and pacey, Telles is a competent defender and rarely gives a yard of space for his opponent to exploit. Although he has never had a taste of English football before, Pereira’s massive success may be a big encouragement to suggest he could be a hit at Leicester.

With Pereira and Telles on opposite sides of the defence, the Foxes could potentially have two rampaging full-backs that could make their attack more potent next season.
Hence, Leicester will need to make sure that they don’t miss out on the opportunity to sign Telles, who can prove to be an asset in Leicester’s pursuit of European football next term.
