Still only 19, the teenage sensation has been the talk of the town for a while now and his long-awaited destiny is certain to be written in the coming days or weeks.
It has been suggested that five European superpowers are circling for the Dutchman’s signature. Liverpool, Barcelona and PSG are said to be the player’s preferred options but it has been claimed that Italian champions Juventus and Premier League monsters Manchester United are also keen on the signing the youngster.
He has placed his future in the hands of super-agent Mino Raiola and things are certainly starting to take shape.
While Barcelona is said to be De Ligt’s preferred option, considering that the Camp Nou side signed his Dutch teammate Frenkie De Jong earlier in the season, Liverpool and PSG are also in with a shout.
His stellar performances for Ajax on their way to the semifinal stage of the Champion League were enough to convince so many of the continent’s giants to take notice.
The 19-year-old was the captain of the Ajax side that gained league glory this season as well. He played in 33 games over the course of the campaign and managed to score 3 goals and set up a further 3 assists as well. His inspiring displays motivated the rest of the side to live up to billing and their season was certainly one to remember.
Here are the 2 PL clubs where he could end up next season:
Liverpool
The Reds have a much better chance of signing the youngster than any other team in the country considering just how brilliant they were last season. Now the champions of Europe, the presence of Van Dijk in the Liverpool camp will also be a massive boost in terms of this deal.

Manchester United
Manchester United’s season was certainly a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Although they did get a couple of decent starts, things collapsed ever so quickly at Old Trafford and despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s best efforts, he wasn’t able to nail down Champions League qualification.
Although signing De Ligt would be a game-changer for the Red Devils, it seems unlikely that he’d move to a Europa League club after the season he’s had.
