Three ideal destinations for out-of-favour Arsenal attacker Mesut Ozil

Arsenal got their Premier League campaign back on track as Unai Emery enjoyed his first win, beating West Ham United 3-1 at the Emirates. The win should have meant a lot to Arsenal and provided their new manager with some breathing space, especially after back-to-back defeats at the hands of Manchester City and Chelsea.

However, someone who was not present among the celebrations was Mesut Ozil. As The Guardian puts it down, Ozil missed the game against West Ham due to an illness but there might be a possibility of a rift between Emery and the midfielder.

The former German international, who currently earns a staggering £300,000-a-week, hasn’t hit top gear so far. Emery had deployed him on the flanks in the first game against Manchester City but he was utilized as a No.10 in the against Chelsea. Ozil failed to shine in both games as he was dispossessed quite easily and under-cooked his passes in crucial areas of the park.

Aaron Ramsey played impressively in his new No.10 role against West Ham, pressing hard and making aggressive forward runs. The tension between the player and the manager could prove to be detrimental to the team morale and Arsenal must offload him if things continue to get worse.

Here are three ideal destinations for Mesut Ozil.

1. Inter Milan

Inter Milan have made radical reinforcements to their squad to enhance their chances of putting up a strong challenge for the Serie A title this season. Although they have looked defensively solid, they could add a few attacking options. After splashing millions on signing Lautaro Martinez, Matteo Politano and Radja Nainggolan, the Italian club must bolster their attack further with Mesut Ozil.

Ozil will bring creativity to Inter’s midfield and his ability to link up play should benefit the likes of Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic.

2. Fenerbahce

The Turkish giants play a 4-2-3-1 formation and often switches to 4-3-3, which is quite similar to what Arsenal are doing at the moment. Phillip Cocu’s team has enough attacking prowess with the likes of Islam Slimani and Roberto Soldado as strikers.

Fenerbahce also boasts of Mathieu Valbuena and Mehmet Ekici as the playmakers. But adding someone like Mesut Ozil to that would only bolster their depth. Ozil could either play as the No. 10 ahead of Ekici and Valbuena or supply the striker from the sides.

3. Paris Saint-Germain

PSG have emerged as one of Europe’s biggest superpowers with their plentiful financial resources. The French champions often utilize a 4-3-3 formation which would provide Ozil with enough opportunities to showcase his versatility.

Playing on the flanks of a three-man attack, he could contribute with goals. However, if the move does go through, PSG must opt to play him as a No.10 to link up play with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
