Three players Bournemouth must sign in the January window

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, 40, might be the youngest manager in the Premier League but his team has already shown tremendous character this season.

The Cherries set the ball rolling with a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City on opening day and followed it up with a lion-hearted comeback in the second half to overcome West Ham United’s challenge after falling behind by a goal in the first half.

Overall, Howe’s men have displayed great determination and fighting spirit to truly make a resounding impact this term.

Although the Cherries have made a promising start to the season, their squad is still littered with plenty of Championship-level players and Howe should offload them in January and purchase players who could be more resourceful to the team.

Here are three players Bournemouth can sign in the January window.

1. Lewis Baker

The England U21 international was loaned out to Vitesse Arnhem for the last two seasons, where his consistent performances illustrated how mismanaged he has been by his boyhood club, Chelsea.

A technically proficient two-footed creative midfielder, Baker, like many of the Blues’ quality graduates, has found his path to the first team continually blocked. With the arrival of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, Baker did not stand a chance of mounting a challenge for a first-team place.

He has been loaned out to Leeds United this season but the opportunity to return to the Premier League should appeal to the youngster, provided Bournemouth come up with a bid.

Baker could follow fellow young star Dominic Solanke and switch teams permanently in search of regular minutes.

2. Isaiah Brown

He is another of Chelsea’s young talents who has been at the receiving end of his club’s mismanagement, spending time on loan at a number of Championship clubs over the past four years.

The youngster, who is capable of playing in multiple roles across the attacking third, has also been a regular for England at the youth level.

Although he is a winger by trade, Brown can play as a forward and an attacking midfielder. He has a good technique for his tender years and has the ability to inject pace into the game from the flanks.

Brown is quite subtle with his movement in the attacking third and has the tendency to often get into goalscoring positions. A move to the Premier League will definitely help the player progress further.

3. John Terry

Bournemouth could add depth to their squad by signing free-agent John Terry.

At 37 years of age, his best years are definitely behind him. However, Terry’s experience at the top level could prove invaluable, while his leadership and winning mentality could have a positive effect on the defensive unit and the entire squad.

Terry played for and captained Championship club Aston Villa last season, making 32 appearances for the club. However, the veteran is without a club right now and Bournemouth should attempt to sign him particularly for the experience he would bring in to the team.
