HomeFormula 1Throwback: Esteban Ocon and Max Verstappen take each other out in the 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix

Max Verstappen was taken out by Esteban Ocon in the 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix

The 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix seemed to be another race victory for Max Verstappen but Esteban Ocon had other thoughts.

Verstappen started fifth on the grid but charged up the track and was in first place. It seemed to be going all well for him as he was on the medium tyres but things were about to turn around pretty quickly.

Ocon, who was racing for Force India at the time, was on the quicker set of tyres and tried to overtake Verstappen.

The problem was that Ocon was already a lap down and was unlapping himself at the first corner. Things were bound to go bad as Verstappen didn鈥檛 yield and the two collided.

Verstappen flipped the bird to Ocon as he rejoined the track and ripped on the French driver on his radio.

Ocon too was surprised at the collision and blamed the Dutchman for affecting his race.

Verstappen finished second, despite the collision taking place on lap 44 while Ocon was handed a ten-second stop-go penalty.

Things get heated up after the race

It wasn鈥檛 over for Verstappen though. The Dutch driver was involved in a shoving match with Ocon, but the Frenchman didn鈥檛 retaliate at all.

Verstappen was handed community service for losing his temper and attacking the Frenchman.

Ocon didn鈥檛 end the season with a lot going for him though. He was left without a race seat and was chucked out of the Force India team.

The Frenchman is back in F1 this year with Renault, and it seems he has patched up with Verstappen.

The pair were seen shaking hands on the first day of 2020 testing, and it will be interesting to see how things develop between them in the coming months.
