Alvaro Morata has struggled since his £60million move to Chelsea. The Spaniard started well but things haven’t been the same since. Morata scored six in six games last season but things paltered out with the 26-year-old only managing to score seven more goals in all competitions.
This season, things have become even worse. With Maurizio Sarri fighting for a Premier League title and the Spaniard struggling to find the net, Chelsea’s chances are diminishing. He’s only managed nine in 24 appearances and had a few high-profile misses as well.
With Evening Standard reporting that Sevilla are among many others who want to make a move, here are three potential destinations for the 26-year-old.
The Express has revealed that the Chelsea striker is among Valencia’s main targets as they look for a permanent solution for their goal-scoring crisis. While they did bring in Michy Batshuayi on loan and signed Kevin Gameiro from Atletico Madrid, the two have still struggled to find the net with Rodrigo emerging the top scoring forward instead.
However, now that the January window is open, Valencia need options and Alvaro Morata could be one especially since he played well for Real Madrid. The 26-year-old made most of his appearances off the bench and yet managed a decent total for the La Liga giants during his two spells with the club.
For Valencia, he would be an excellent option and it does give him a chance to show the world what he can do once again.
Known to have the ability to bring back players from the dead, Sevilla could use Alvaro Morata given their sudden rise as title challengers. The La Liga side needs reinforcements to help them out as they surprise Spain with their efforts.
While they may not become Champions of Spain, Sevilla can certainly provide Alvaro Morata with a new home. However, with Chelsea looking for a replacement as well, there is a good chance that the club could make a move for on-loan striker Andre Silva if needed.
Gonzalo Higuain and Chelsea – a love story that may be getting closer to formulation as reports heat up about a move between the two parties. While the Argentine striker is on loan at AC Milan, it seems that the Blues are more than happy to do whatever is required to get their man and in return, the San Siro side will get Alvaro Morata.
The perfect place for the centre-forward, (outside of Juventus), a move to the Rossoneri allows Morata to return to his old stomping grounds the Serie A. This is where the former Juventus striker contributed to 28 goals in 63 games over the course of three seasons with the club, despite playing second fiddle to Carlos Tevez.
A move to the San Siro could be exactly what Morata needs to boost his confidence but if he does make an impact, it would need to be fast. The Milanese aren’t on the best track at the moment and need to make a Champions League spot to fulfil certain financial fair play rules.
