Hungary star Timea Babos has won several women’s doubles titles to accumulate a decent net worth in her tennis career.
Kristina Mladenovic and Babos bagged their second Australian Open women’s doubles title defeating top-seeds Hsieh Su-Wei and Barbora Strycova in the summit clash on Friday.
Babos and Mladenovic dominated the match from the beginning against their rivals to record an easy 6-2 6-1.
With this win, the pair extended their titles in Grand Slam doubles to three and are sure to receive a lot of limelight in the coming days. Let’s now have a closer look at the Hungarian ace Timea Babos.
Babos is a 26-year-old tennis player who has so far had a successful career, especially in doubles.
She currently resides in Hungary and was born to Czaba (father) and Zsuzsanna (mother) in Sopron on May 10, 1993.
She has a nickname on tour called ‘Babosdook’, given to her by doubles partner Mladenovic as she is a big fan of horror films. The nickname is believed to be a reference to the film ‘The Babadook’.
The Hungarian has 3 Grand Slam titles in her kitty, all of them in the doubles category of which she has won alongside her current partner Mladenovic.
Her titles include 2 Australian Open (2018, 2020) and one French Open in 2019. Besides these, she has also won 3 singles and 21 doubles titles on the WTA Tour.
Babos at present has a reported net worth which ranges between $1m to $5m, which has been earned through a successful tennis career she has built until now.
Also, she is one of the richest tennis players to be born in Hungary. Timea is sponsored by MOL, Park Teniszklub, Szerencsejatek Zrt., Mazda, Babolat, and Fila.
Unlike a successful doubles career, her singles career has not been so fruitful and is currently ranked 92nd in the world.
Her best-ever ranking in singles to date has been 25th, that too back in September 2016. Meanwhile, in doubles, she is presently ranked 2nd along with Mladenovic. She and Mladenovic have however in the past attained in the top-rank in July 2018.
Timea is not married at the moment neither is she dating anyone and seems to be solely concentrated on her tennis career.
However, there were reports of her having one previous relationship with some claiming that she was dating Peter Koczka.
