Why Everton should keep hold of young Moise Kean
According to TEAMtalk (h/t Daily Star), Everton are willing to offer young Moise Kean as part of a swap deal to land Lazio striker Ciro Immobile.
Premier League side Everton have not had the best of campaigns this season, with the side struggling at 12th place in the table. It has been the same for the Toffees’ 20-year-old Italian striker Moise Kean as well.
Kean, who moved from Serie A giants Juventus last summer, has found life extremely difficult since arriving at Goodison Park. The young Italian has managed to find the back of the net just once despite featuring 27 times overall this season.
An impressive six goals from 13 league games last season saw the striker eventually make a switch to England. However, Kean has been a huge disappointment so far, failing to impress under former boss Marco Silva and current manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The youngster’s uninspiring displays in front of the goal have now forced Everton to look for a new striker in place of him.
Ciro Immobile has emerged as the Toffees’ primary candidate to replace Kean ahead of the summer transfer window. Immobile, who plays alongside Kean in the Italian national team is, however, ten years his senior.
Unlike Kean, Immobile’s story has been entirely different. The 30-year-old finisher seems to be in the best form of his life, scoring a massive 26 goals from his 27 league outings.
He is currently the top goalscorer in the Italian top division. Immobile, in the past, has also topped the charts, scoring a whopping 29 goals from 33 games in the 2017-18 season.
A consistent goal-scorer over the last couple of seasons, there is no denying the Lazio finisher is a catch. Hence, Everton’s interest in him makes perfect sense.
Do the Toffees need a striker in place of Moise Kean?
However, Everton don’t seem to need any more strikers, with the squad already having five players, including Kean. Moreover, it has not been a problem position for the struggling Toffees.
In fact, strikers Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been their driving force, helping them climb the table after an initial dip early in the season. The pair have scored 23 of Everton’s 37 goals in the league, giving a clear idea of their form and potential.
Meanwhile, Kean has fallen behind them due to poor form and is followed by out of favour forwards Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse. With the side well-stocked and strong up front, the inclusion of another striker feels totally unnecessary.
Rather, they should stay clear of swapping Kean for Immobile. Having proved his potential at such a young age (in the past two seasons), all he needs is some more time. Considering his age, the three-cap Italian could be a good player for the future.

Verdict
Everton have two in-form strikers in Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin. They also have enough back-up in that position, that another striker would be just surplus to requirements. Kean is still young and can improve under the guidance of a top coach like Ancelotti.
