Snell started playing basketball in his high school days at Martin Luther King High School. Many academies and universities noted him as a star player in his school days. During his junior year, Snell averaged 14 points with seven rebounds and four blocks per game. He joined Westwind Preparatory Academy and averaged 19.5 points with 10 rebounds and 8.8 assists. On seeing his performance, ESPN called him ‘one of the top sleepers on the West Coast’.
Upon receiving various offers from different colleges, Snell decided to join New Mexico University. It was a good start for Snell as a freshman, as he played all the games except one and averaged 4.4 points with two rebounds. He worked hard to improve his skills to move to the next stage of basketball. In his senior year, Snell averaged 12.5 points with 2.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. His performance was noticed by the NBA scouts and a couple of teams were ready to pick him.
After completing his junior year in college, Snell decided to enter the 2013 NBA draft by skipping his final year of college. As expected, Snell was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the 2013 NBA draft. He averaged 11.8 points with 6.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in the 2013 NBA Summer League. In the rookie season, Snell performed well and was appreciated by his fellow opponents and teammates. In the rookie season, Snell averaged 4.5 points with 1.6 rebounds per game.
At the end of his contract, he was traded to the Bucks in exchange for a player. From 2016 to 2022, Snell played for 4 teams, namely the Bucks, the Pistons, the Hawks and the Blazers. As of now, Snell is playing for the Pelicans and everything is going well for him.
